Sustainable Move-Out's Impact

Inventory— Program Total, all-time
In this time period, Sustainable Move-Out diverted 1,409 items (2,598 lbs) across 235 distinct products, carrying 6.41 t CO2e of embodied manufacturing emissions that stayed in use rather than being spent again. Keeping these goods out of landfill avoided 27.9 kg CO2e, and their reuse is estimated to have avoided a further 4.29 t CO2e of new production.
Emissions figures cover 235 distinct products. ReDorm has recorded exact material composition for 102 of 235; the remainder use their product category’s average.
Manufacturing emissions already spent on these goods, kept in use rather than remade.
Displacement-adjusted. A share of the embodied carbon beside it, reported alongside a greenhouse gas inventory rather than deducted from it.
Scope 3 category 5, waste generated in operations.

In the selected time period, we brought in 212 orders to 159 students, representing 1,530 items sold. This represents direct financial savings worth $14,401 to students. Those goods carry 5 t CO2e of embodied manufacturing emissions that stayed in use. Reusing them is estimated to have avoided 3.52 t CO2e of new production, and keeping them out of landfill avoided 21.8 kg CO2e. The landfill figure is a scope 3 category 5 reduction; the production figure is an avoided-emissions estimate reported outside a greenhouse gas inventory, not deducted from one.
A note on the savings figure. Based on 1,524 of 1,530 items sold. 6 items have no retail value recorded yet and are not counted — the real saving is higher than shown.
From 1,530 items students actually took home.
Displacement-adjusted, and reported outside any greenhouse gas inventory.

Figures were generated using the ReDorm Impact Methodology V1.3.3 on October 9, 2026. Emission factors are derived from the US EPA Waste Reduction Model (WARM) v16, applied following the framework of ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 without asserting conformity with those standards. Embodied carbon in circulation is an attributional figure: the cradle-to-gate manufacturing emissions of the goods handled. Avoided emissions are a separate consequential estimate against a landfill baseline, applying published per-category displacement rates, and are reported outside any greenhouse gas inventory rather than deducted from a scope. The full methodology, including its known limitations, is available on request. Figures are recomputed each time this page loads, so they reflect the latest data and the current methodology.
